About

I’m Mavina and I work from my studio in West Mersea.

I design and make prints, and books in small limited editions and as one-offs, that are hand-printed and hand-bound.

My practice reflects my increasing interest in book arts; my books are made for the message. I want them to engage with the viewer on a personal level, to whisper something in the reader's ear and run away with them.

As an artist ideas are paramount, but I believe craftsmanship is an important element of printmaking too, and hand-printing allows me to make each piece individual.

My books and prints are inspired by wildlife and the passing of the seasons which surrounds me here in the tidal marsh-lands of the Essex coast on Mersea Island.

Work is held in a number of collections including the artists’ books collection of: Manchester Metropolitan University, the University of the Creative Arts and the Artists’ Book Collection at Bank Street Arts.
